Penelope June Balzer was born on May 3rd to proud parents Brandon and Bailey. On May 10th Bailey noticed Penelope seemed cold and had a blue tint to her skin. Penelope was taken to the Owatonna ER and then transferred to Saint Mary's in Rochester. After days of testing it was discovered she had sleep apnea. She went into surgery and a tracheotomy tube was put in to help her breathe. A ventilator is used at night to help her get the air she needs. Thankfully Penelope is now in good health. The whole stay took 65 days, however, there will be many more trips to Rochester for check-ups and adjustments. With the help of a home health care nurse, hopefully in a year or two she can rid herself of all equipment and her feeding tube.
